Welcome to Advanced Composition!


In ancient times, a scribe was an educated person who could write very well. Scribes would often write down what a person said or carefully copy important documents.

This semester, you will also be scribes as you write down your thoughts and comment on your classmates' blogs. In class, we focus on grammar and writing structure, but in our blogs we will focus on content. Every other Monday I will post a new prompt for you respond to. You will write your response on your own blog. Each response should be 2-3 paragraphs in length. Plan to spend about 30 minutes a week on your blog.

During the weeks when there is not prompt, you will comment on at least two of your classmates' responses. Each comment should be at least 2-3 sentences in length. By the end of the semester, you should have commented on everyone's blog at least one time.

Each assignments is worth 15 points

Topic 2: Your Dream Job


Many of you are here studying at ALP because you want to go to CSUF to study. Many of you plan to use your education to get a good job once you go home. For many people, the job that they will have in life is a good job, but it is not their dream job. For example, I love being a teacher, and I have always wanted to be a teacher. I enjoy working with students from around the world, and I love helping them achieve their goals. But if I could choose a dream job, I would want to be the host of a travel show. I love to travel, and I wish that I could visit all the countries in the world. If I had my own travel show, I would get paid to travel! I would be able to meet so many interesting people, see many amazing places, and try all different kinds of food. I also want to expose people in the US to the wonders that the world has to offer. So many Americans have never traveled abroad, and they have a very narrow world view.

What about you? If you could choose any dream job, what job would you like to have? Why?

    my dream job is Chinese doctor, because my grandfather's old brother was an old Chinese doctor. He can touch people's hands then know which part of his or her body is unhealthy. It is very easy in looking way,but very difficult for doctor. If I become an old Chinese doctor, I can help many people. 12 years ago I really want to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), but I can not, my parents do not want me to learn that, they say that kind of specialty need too long time to study and they never learn about it, my parents can not help me, so finally I did not study about TCM. So this job become my dream job.

    If you have a dream and you are a real working person you need to go for it , and don't let any one stop you you still young and it never to late follow your dream . be what you want to be . ;)
